LORIO - An innovation designed for respiratory rehabilitation
LORIO is an innovative system that gamifies respiratory rehabilitation sessions to improve patient adherence to daily therapy. Through the electronic system embedded in the flute, patients interact with video games and train to re-educate their breathing. These training sessions help improve breathing techniques such as bronchial clearance, breathlessness management, and inspiratory control during aerosol therapy with a nebulizer.
More than just a tool for respiratory rehabilitation, LORIO is a solution that adapts to each patient's breathing capacity thanks to its technology based on precise airflow data collection. All breathing sequences integrated into LORIO are based on respiratory physiotherapy techniques developed in collaboration with a physiotherapist specialized in this field. The video games involve both breathing exercises and tactile actions performed using the buttons on the flute, which works like a game controller. The combination, either simultaneous or sequential, of tactile and breathing sequences allows patients to train without causing fatigue, as the breathing effort is not continuous.

TRAINING,
Training 1 : ROLLERCOASTER
Inspired by the autogenic drainage method, this training invites the patient to inhale gently and deeply to climb the roller coaster. After an inspiratory pause of 3 seconds, he will begin to descend while exhaling. Be careful, in the second round, the difficulty increases: he will have to exhale more than he inhales to empty his lungs more deeply.
In “Rollercoaster” we work on:
- Learn to take an inspiration break,
- Manage your breath to descend into your expiratory reserve volumes (ERV),
- Learn about bronchial decongestion.
Training 2 : SKUBA
Your patient will need to inhale gently to submerge Pulmi underwater. Then, after reaching the depth goal, he will have to exhale to bring Pulmi to the surface. To do this, the patient must pay attention to controlling their air volumes. The patient will also be asked to regulate their breathing by relying solely on their sensations, without the help of any visual feedback.
In "Skuba" we work on:
- Learn to manage the correct inspiratory flow, to achieve an inspiratory pause and to take an adequate volume.
- Learn how to carry out your aerosol therapy optimally.
Game 1 : MELO MEMO
Enter a musical and rhythmic game! Follow our conductor, Mélo, and memorize the melody he creates. Be careful, note after note, the melody will become longer and more complex! Learn to manage your flow and get down into your expiratory reserve volume. And don’t forget to coordinate your fingers with your breath!
Game 2 : PULMI'S RACE
Discover Pulmi's Race, our unique racing game designed for your patients ! Encourage them to master their inspiration and the inspiratory pause to fill the tank and get boosts that will propel them to the front of the race. Guide them through various boost portals, each requiring precise management of their inspiratory flow.

The toolbox allows you extensive customization of breathing technique exercises, adapted to the specific and precise needs of each patient. With this feature, you can create tailor-made rehabilitation programs, taking into account the individual abilities and goals of your patients.

After each session, you can track your patient's statistics on the dashboard. Indeed, it centralizes the results and breathing data collected during LORIO games and training, and allows you to visualize their progress over time.
